Early Life and Cricket Career
Imran Khan was born on November 25, 1952, in Lahore, Pakistan. He came from a well-to-do family and was educated at Aitchison College, Lahore. He later went to England to study Economics at the University of Oxford. While in England, Imran Khan started playing cricket and soon became a star player.
In 1971, Imran Khan made his debut for the Pakistan national cricket team. He was a fast bowler and an all-rounder who could also bat. He quickly established himself as one of the best cricketers in the world and played for Pakistan for almost 20 years. Imran Khan led Pakistan to its first-ever World Cup victory in 1992. He retired from cricket soon after that and started his political career.
Political Career
Imran Khan founded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party in 1996. The party's main agenda was to fight corruption and bring about a change in the political system of Pakistan. The party struggled for many years, and Imran Khan faced several setbacks in his political career.
However, Imran Khan's fortunes changed in 2011, when he launched a massive anti-corruption campaign in Pakistan. He organized several rallies and protests across the country, demanding that the corrupt politicians be brought to justice. The campaign was hugely successful, and Imran Khan became a popular figure in Pakistani politics.
In 2013, Imran Khan's PTI won its first-ever seats in the National Assembly of Pakistan. The party continued to grow in popularity, and in the 2018 general elections, it won the most seats in the National Assembly. Imran Khan was elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan on August 18, 2018.
